Coat: The weather resistant double coat consists of a long, flat, thick, outer coat of coarse hair, straight or slightly undulating, and lying over a dense, fine, woolly undercoat.

Character: This dog is good-humored, gentle, friendly with all living creatures, and will protect its family if necessary.

Temperament: This breed will be a good friend to any other dog, animal, child, or visitor with good intentions.

Care: Regular grooming with a brush and comb is required to prevent tangles.

Training: The Great Pyrenees is very sensitive to the tone of your voice. Training must be calm and consistent.

Activity: This dog loves to swim. Avoid long hikes until the Great Pyrenees is fully grown.

Description : The Great Pyrenees give the distinct impression of elegance and unsurpassed beauty combined with great overall size and majesty. Their weather resistant coat that allow them to withstand intense cold temperatures. They require human companionship and attention and lots of space. The Great Pyrenees will not do well with apartment dwellers. Though a giant breed, they are pleasant, gentle, extremely intelligent and loyal to family. Usually gentle with children, they make great playmates.
