Coat: The Yorkie's coat consists of very long, silky hair. The Yorkie's color is golden-brown with steel-grey.
Character: Yorkies become very attached to their families. Yorkies are lively, intelligent and bark when they sense danger.
Temperament: Yorkies are tolerant of children, provided that they respect its territory. Yorkies can be a bit too brave occasionally when dealing with larger dogs but get along fine with cats and other household pets.
Care: Intensive brushing and combing of Yorkie's coat is required on a daily basis. If this is too time-consuming, the Yorkie's coat should be trimmed professionally. The Yorkie's hair is kept out of the eyes by a rubber band or a bow. The Yorkie's ears must be checked and loose hairs must be removed from ear passages.
Training: If training is consistent, the Yorkie will learn quickly.
Activity: The exercise needs of the Yorkie are uncomplicated. Yorkies will adapt themselves to the activity level of your family.
Yorkshire Terrier Description: The Yorkie is a tiny, long-haired terrier whose blue and tan coat is parted on the face and from the base of the skull to the end of the tail and hangs evenly and very straight down each side of the body. The Yorkie is one of the world's smallest dogs rarely more than 7 lbs. in weight. Though tiny, the Yorkie is a big-dog in a little-dog package. Newborn Yorkies are black with tan on the eyebrow, jaws, chest and feet. Yorkies fully mature in two years. Compact in size, sweet in nature, and cheerful in character Yorkies make wonderful companions.
