Roxy Kuzmak and her husband, expecting their first child in the fall, are beginning a gut renovation of their Hamptons home and, of course, must discuss many details with their architect.Like the built-in window bench, with high-density foam cushion, for their 100-pound Bernese mountain dog, Kaya, to climb on for an outdoor view. And the special alcove in the kitchen for Kaya’s use. And the space under the kitchen island for her to hang out.
Now they just have to figure out where to put the dog’s door.”Literally, my husband met with the architect today to talk about it,” says Kuzmak, 35, a former banker who now owns Hamptons Hound, a luxury pet boutique in Bridgehampton. The 2 1/2-year-old dog is “our first baby. We’re gutting the house, so why not take her needs into account?”
