Coat: The Beagle's coat is short and weather-proof. Liver-colored Beagles are not acceptable.

Character: The Beagle is sociable, cheerful and independent.

Temperament: Early socialization with other household pets is recommended with Beagles. Beagles are friendly to dogs and children as well as strangers.

Care: Keep the Beagle's coat brushed and ears clean.

Training: Beagles are very suitable pets for homes, in addition to being independent hunting dogs. Beagles learn best from obedience classes.

Activity: The Beagle needs lots of exercise. The Beagle's love of the great outdoors makes is unsuitable for apartment life.

Description : Beagles are known for their warm personality, admirable courage, stamina and trustworthiness. Beagles make great family pets as they enjoy romping and playing. Beagles are receptive to training as watch dogs and for hunting. Though Beagles are prone to howl when lonely, training will alleviate this problem. Beagles adapt well to a home or kennel environment, but should not be left alone for long periods of time.
